Yoga helps in golf in three specific ways using balance, flexibility, and breathing.

The golf swing starts with good balance.  Practicing yoga poses will enhance that balance you need.

The golf swing is not a natural movement for the human body.  Yoga will create more flexibility in your body to allow you to swing the golf club more freely.  Flexibility allows golfer to get a bigger shoulder turn.  A bigger shoulder turn in golf equals more distance.  And over time, the flexibility yoga will give you will allow you to play golf longer in life.
Most importantly yoga teaches you how to control your breathing.  Controlling your breathing allows you to control your emotions.  When you are standing on the tee box with that all important drive or standing over an 8 foot birdie putt, the breathing you learn from yoga can calm your nerves.  Learning how to breathe really helps when you just put up that big number you’ve been trying to avoid.  You can’t change the past and erase all those shots you just made.  But with proper breathing, you can calm yourself,re-focus, and control the future on the next hole.
